AVX Instructions
12-20-2025
AVX Instructions are additions to the x86 architecture's assembly instruction set. These instructions support SIMD operations, allowing the processor to perform the same operations in parallel using wide vector registers. These registers handle more bits at once, allowing operations to be batched rather than executed sequentially.
Further development on these instructions have allowed for more powerful processing, supporting up to 512 bits of parallel computation in some cases. However, this is not free. Heavy use of AVX instructions increases power consumption, forcing CPUs to adjust accordingly.
